2007 SUMMER TOUR

Our summer tour featured a look at three VINEA VIneyards, comparing locations and farming practices within each. We saw Figgins Estate Vineyard up Millcreek, an area known for high rainfall each year. Our group headed to Milton-Freewater next to look at HEather hill vineyard, located on some of the valley's driest ground. From there we traveled just up the road to see Waliser vineyards, farmed with 90% biological applications. our morning of tours ended at beresan winery, offered by Tom waliser, with a very nice lunch sponsored by jims supply company and catered by doug case of jims supply.

thank you all who joined us this year - we had a great turnout and look forward to next year.

**We'd like to offer a big thank you to Tom waliser for offering his beautiful winery as a place for us to lunch.

**also, we'd like to Thank doug case for putting on such a great spread - it was a most enjoyable end to a great day!

VINEA EDucation DAY - March 16, 2007

"ALTERNATIVE PEST Management"

Our 2007 Education Day was a great success. We had a wonderful turnout considering that it was one of our more beautiful days so far this spring. We enjoyed comments from Dan Kent, director of Salmon-Safe. He gave us a great overview of where Salmon-Safe is heading, showed us some wonderful advertising campaigns for some big name companies such as NIKE, and gave our crowd a nice look at where VINEA fits in to all that.

We featured four speakers on our topic of "Alternative Pest Management". They covered types of pests, natural ways to combat them, predators, vineyard management techniques, and finally biological products that are coming on the market to help with more sustainable vineyard management. The speakers did a great job with their presentations and were met with a lot of questions from the crowd.

19 VINEA Vineyards begin 2-year IOBC/LIVE Certification process
September 2006

September 2006 marked the beginning of a two year LIVE and IOBC certification process for 19 VINEA Vineyards. Vineyard inspections were performed by a contracted LIVE inspector and we are hoping to complete our first year of certification by the end of March 2007. After the first completed year in the certification process, the applying vineyards will be Salmon-Safe certified with no additional inspections required.

It is the start of a very exciting journey for VINEA. We are hoping to secure a concrete merge with LIVE by the end of 2007, which could potentially mean that VINEA membership would mean an automatic LIVE membership as well.

Below is a link for the press release for the VINEA/LIVE collaboration.

Oregon Wine Board
Growing Green Media Tour

In September, the Oregon Wine Board organized a
media tour for wine writers from all over the world
and they made a stop in our Walla Walla Valley. The
group toured vineyards and wineries on the west
side of Oregon and then traveled to the Walla Walla
Valley where our sustainble vineyard practices were
the highlight. VINEA vineyards were toured over the
two-day valley visit, and VINEA member wines were
tasted at two tastings, featuring wines with
100% VINEA sourced grapes. The tour to the valley
was a great success and below you will find a link to
an article written by Patrick Kaminsky. He writes with
much enthusiasm about the topic and hopefully he
was able to spur worldwide interest in our wines.
~ Cheers ~
